What is Equine Sport Therapy?
Equine Sport Therapy is a program that is partnered with the British Columbia College of Equine Therapy (BCCET) and Natural Touch Therapy in Alberta and Saskatchewan with Janelle and Brenda. Founded by Dave Collins in Vernon, BC, this program has produced many well-rounded Equine Therapists in the industry Canada wide. An Equine Sport Therapist can use a range of modalities that get down to the root cause of imbalances in the body using their intuitive feeling and a wide variety of modalities.
What kind of horse benefits from Treatment?
Any type of horse at any age! Even if they appear to not have any type of concern, they will certainly benefit from a bodywork session and I highly recommend it as a preventative measure.
What are some types of Injuries/ Imbalances that an Equine Sport Therapy can help with?
- Posture, resting one leg more than the other, not wanting to hold legs/ pick them up.
- Shortened stride, difficulties picking up leads, softness, bending and turning.
- Saddle fit issues, girthiness, ear pining, teeth grinding, cribbing.
- Getting kicked by another horse, hitting a barrel or jump, tight turnout blankets.
- Pelvis issues, hind end- engagement, collection, heavy forehand
- Colic episode, hunter’s bump, respiratory issues, and much more!
How long are the sessions?
Each session is 1hr, however if an area is needing extra attention or the horse needs more time to process. I will continue on as needed.
How often will my horse need to be seen?
This will be determined a after the first initial visit. Some horses may need to be seen regularly while others only need to be seen a few times year.
